Our Smile Fillers are temporary tooth replacements or space fillers and while you can absolutely wear them while eating, this could increase the risk of dislodging and damaging the flipper and there are precautions you must take for them to hold up under the forces of chewing.  The design of the flipper and the position of the remaining teeth will determine how much retention or “Grip” the flipper has and that will determine how well it stays in while chewing. You will need to test this on your own at home.

Keeping in mind the cautions above, chew carefully in the area with “fake” teeth and eat softer foods that are easy to chew such as pasta dishes etc.  Chew cautiously so you can stop if your flipper slightly dislodged while chewing.  Carefully replace it with your tongue before accidentally biting it and possibly breaking the tooth loose from the acrylic.  It generally takes 3-4 days for you to adjust to your new flipper. Soon it will feel like part of your mouth.

While a dental flipper is only a temporary space filler for a missing tooth it gives you the ability to budget your dental care by offering an alternative while you work with your dentist toward a more permanent solution.
