What is a dental Flipper?

A Flipper is similar in look and feel to a retainer. It is worn as a temporary replacement for one or two teeth and is made using an acrylic Monomer and Polymer mix to form a palate with one or two prosthetic teeth attached. They are also sometimes called a partial or Nesbit but a Flipper generally has no wires and stays in by designing the appliance to have retention using the acrylic and the position of the teeth. If you or someone you know has ever had a tooth knocked out or lost due to dental health issues, you may need a dental Flipper. Your dentist may have a plan involving an implant or bridge for a more permanent tooth replacement but that may take several weeks and is expensive. No one wants to smile when they have a missing tooth so Flippers can be a temporary replacement while you wait. Using a temporary Flipper will save you money at the dentist and give you your Smile back!
